The latest release by Volkswagen, the Polo. A sleek and elegant design with a new India ready engine, gleams throughout the Indian subcontinent, competing with all the upscale hatchbacks in its range. Specially customized for Indian terrain the Polo has a commendable engine with an excellent body fit design, quite reflecting the huge brand name.
According to Mr. Lutz Kothe, Chief General Manager, Marketing & PR VW India the New Polo is a key player in Volkswagen’s strategy to establish its brand presence in India. Well, that says it all, just by looking at what VW is ready to give away with its Polo.
The Polo has a subtle 1198cc engine to power the beatiful design. But just dont underestimate its subtlety as it has a hammering drive package under the hood.
The Polo is available in two power variants, the Petrol an the Diesel. The 1.2L 3-cylinder Petrol engine is capable of churning out 75 bhp(55 kW) of power at 5400rpm, with 110nm torque churned out at 3750rpm whereas the 1.2L Diesel 3-cylinder, does 75bhp(55 kW)@4200rpm with a torque of 180nm@2000rpm.
A five speed gearbox will power the Polo’s 15 inch front wheels, enough for it to make a bold statement.
The Petrol version delivers a mileage of 16 km/l. But, if you're out for a long comforting drive quite often, then you must not forget to take a look at the TDI Diesel version which delivers a whopping 22 km/l, smashing away, by a huge gap, all the other small cars in its lot.
VW Polo has a huge collection of standard equipements pre-fit in all its variants. An ABS(anti-lock braking system) will be standard across all models, two airbags, a tilt & telescopic steering giving it a class apart from the the other premium hatchbacks in the market. No doubt that the Polo is going to attract huge attention for this.
The VW Polo Trendline is equipped with body colored bumpers, front power windows and AC, as a base model.
The VW Polo in the Comfortline tier beholds extra goodies such as the MP3 player, power steering, central locking, height-adjustable seats, all 4 power windows.
The top-end Polo Highline variant,in addition to the Comfortline accesoories would consist of 15-inch alloy wheels, a chrome trim, ABS, airbags for driver and passenger, fog lamps, a rear wash/wipe with defogger, a keyless entry with remote opening and closing of windows, multifunctional display and a unique fabric upholstery making it a complete package of desire.
Something that would blow away your minds is that Volkswagen, for the Polo, has deviced in the ability to close all open windows using the remote. Now that's what you can term as an ultra-chique drive.
And the best Indian touch VW could ever fit-in is that the New Polo boasts of a galvanized body with 6 years anti-corrosion warranty. So now, you never need to worry before hitting out for a long drive during the lush green monsoons in India.
